Obstacles along the road

The Vaspra group made many small applications (none of which came to production stage). Prashanth Ellina developed a GUI library for QBASIC 4.5. The coding took around three months. This remained the most extensive and complex code written for months to come. Prashanth implemented the game of 8Queens using this GUI library. Vikraman simultaneously wrote his own version. It was at this time that Prashanth and Vikraman realized that each one of them had a special talent in them. Small projects were started but never completed. The group's emphasis was now on learning more about the computer world, Who's who and what's what. They also started thinking about the group more professionally. They concluded that they needed more members in the group. But to their dismay, they couldn't find anyone who was really interested in their field, let alone match their skills. Soon the summer vacation for 11th grade started. They planned a new project. This was designed to be a mega size project. It was about creating interactive 3d worlds in which people could interact with one another. VRML was chosen as the scripting language. VB was the coding platform. The project was sub-divided into 3 parts. The first part was called object maker. The second and third parts were called World Viewer and World Maker respectively. Coding began immediately with only one week of design. Object browser was split up into modules and these were split up equally between the two members of the group. After three weeks of coding the core was completed. The user interface design began. It was inspired by "Bryce 3d"'s interface design. To create a similar user interface, Adobe ImageStyler 1.0 was chosen. Interface design work was completed in 10 days. The project entered the debugging stage. It was at this time that a disaster happened. Vikraman deleted his code files after his modules were merged with Prashanth's. Now the entire code existed only on Prashanth's hard-disk. Without warning, Prashanth's hard-disk crashed and the damage was irreversible. Several days of hard-work was lost forever. But as we know, all things in life happen for one's own good. The Vaspra group realized that they had to be more professional next time. They understood the concept of backup the hard way!
